Subsidy Cuts for 900 VA Customers Can Save Rp20 Trillion: Energy Ministry

medcom.id, Jakarta: The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has proposed electricity subsidy cuts to the House of Representatives.
 
The ministry's electricity director general Jarman explained there are 22.9 million 900 VA customers in the country. Only 4.1 million of them are from low-income groups.
 
"We plan electricity subsidy cuts for 900 VA customers who are not from low-income groups," Jarman said here on Wednesday (9/7/2016).

"We can save around Rp20 trillion a year," he continued.
 
Jarman underlined that the government wants to implement the subsidy cuts gradually. Therefore, the negative impacts will be minimal.
 
"we are still discussing the issue," he concluded.
