medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesian government conducted bilateral meeting with Malaysian government. The closed meeting, which took three hours, produced several agreements between the two nations, as related to the utilization of palm oil resources for both nations.
In his explanation, Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Resources Rizal Ramli conveyed several results agreed by Indonesia and Malaysia, as related to the utilization of palm oil for the state' economy.
"Both countries agreed that palm oil is a strategic commodity. Not only from the employment work field creation, but palm oil also contributed from the foreign exchange income and the welfare increase," Rizal said at a press conference in Fairmont Hotel, Central Jakarta, saturday (10/3/2015).
Not only that, Rizal assessed that the formulation of the strategy to utilize Indonesia's resources may also be hoped to provide a long term benefit for both countries through the policy formulas designed and agreed on.
The formulation of the policies against the utilization of resources between both countries have also expected to provide long term solutions for Indonesia not to depend on international world, especially the import of various commodities and the main needs of the people.
"We have learnt from previous experience. We were the king of sugar across the world, one a coffee king as well, but since we do not formulate the long term strategy, Indonesia's great commodities became not so great, where it ends in importing commodity goods," Rizal said.
The meeting, Rizal continued, was a follow up of the meeting between Indonesian ministers with Malaysian Prime Minister he attended with Sofyan Djalil, in a discussion related to the utilization of palm and its industry.
