medcom.id, Jakarta: State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Sumarno believes that state-owned enterprises can buy PT Freeport Indonesia's shares.
"We are still waiting the process," Rini said in Jakarta on Friday, March 10, 2017.
"We are still waiting the resolution," Rini continued.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry issued the Ministerial Decree No 9/2017 earlier this year. Foreign mining companies should release their majority shares to Indonesian entities. Foreign Mining companies could sell thier majority shares to state-owned enterprises, region-owned enterprises or private enterprises.
PT Freeport Indonesia operates in Papua province. The foreign mining company produces copper, gold and silver.
