medcom.id, Jakarta: Central Agency of Statistics (BPS) reported private consumption delivered the biggest contribution to Indonesia's economic growth in the first quarter of 2016.
Private consumption grew by 4.94 percent compared to the same period least year. It is higher than the total economic growth in the first quarter at 4.92 percent.
"Private consumption maintained its largest share in the economic growth," said BPS Chief Suryamin at his office, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/4/2016).
Investment gave the second biggest contribution to the economic growth. It grew by 5.57 percent year on year (yoy). In the other hand, government consumption only grew by 2.93 percent.
Furthermore, exports and imports declined in the first quarter. Exports decreased 3.88 percent while imports fell 4.22 percent.
"Low commodity prices and slow global economy influenced exports and imports," he concluded.
