medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo said the visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella had brought a business delegation of 30 people, as it will produce a total contract of at least US$1.055 billion.
"President Mattarella and I have just discussed the efforts of increasing the bilateral relationship, especially on economy. I am pleased that in this visit, there is a business delegation consisting of 30 people," mentioned the President during the joint press statement at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, as quoted from Antara, Monday (11/9/2015).
The president mentioned that the contract is a new cooperation, especially on the energy and infrastructure logistics, as well as expansions on the automotive sector.
"In the meeting, we have discussed four main issues," said Jokowi accompanied by President Mattarella.
The first issue, said the President, discussed the escalation of cooperations in the leather industry, fashion and furniture sectors. Secondly, the escalation of cooperation in tourism. Thirdly, the escalation of cooperation in the energy sector, including the use of CPO as one of the renewable energy source, as well as the fourth, being the "interfaith" dialog improvements.
The trade in 2014 has reached US$4.01 million, as the Italian investment to Indonesia has reached 68,000 people.
"I am pleased that in this meeting, we have also signed two agreement documents in the field of visa exemptions for diplomatic and service passports, as well as cooperations in tourism sector," he mentioned.
President Mattarella said that the Indonesia visit is his first beyond the Mediterranean region.
"We (Indonesia-Italy) have conducted good cooperation. However, there are (still) a huge potential for the interests of both nations in strengthening the cooperation," Mattarella stated.
