medcom.id, Jakarta: Earlier on Thursday, PT Pertamina (tbk) cancelled the Pertamax fuel hike, initially planned on Friday, May 15, 2015.
Pertamina's VP of Communication Wianda Pusponegoro explained that the company postponed the price hike to seek better timing.
"On Pertamax, we are looking for better timeline. And the government understood this as we have routinely conducted that the non-subsidy pricing is the domain of the enterprise. But we have already coordinated with related parties to ensure the right timing," Wianda said following a public discussion with the theme of Developments of Pertamina Processed Products in the company's head office, Medan Merdeka Timur no. 1, Jakarta, Monday (5/18/2015).
Wianda continued by explaining that there will be adjustments on fuel price, as it refers to the international oil market price. But for application, suitable timing is needed.
"Our routine activity is to evaluate Pertamax periodically, twice in a month. Then there is another factor to provide time for adjustments. This is what we meant at the time, so within a short timeframe we would adjust," he elaborated.
Wianda also confirmed the misinterpretation in public on diesel or biodiesel, because the price increase is to be on non-subsidized diesel.
"Now, there is a confusion on where it is written as diesel or biodiesel. What we have meant there was non-subsidized diesel, to be exact. But due to misinterpretation, we chose to postpone, to wait for better time," he concluded. (Eps)
