Govt Urged to Ease Licences on Power Plants

LB Ciputri Hutabarat • 05 October 2015 15:11
medcom.id, Jakarta: The Alliance of Environmental Partnership Fund urged the government to simplify the licensing process of power plants throughout Indonesia. The licensing was considered as one of the crucial item in boosting the acceleration of the 35,000 MW project.

"Conduct deregulation and optimization of the one door license services process on the power plant licenses," said the coordinator of Environmental Partnership Fund, Afif Maschun in Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Sunday (10/5/2015).

He mentioned that so far the government is to build several Steam Power Plants (PLTU), such as Parit Baru, Pantai Kura-Kura, Sintang and Ketapang. Remembering that the development is conducted on the regional level, coordination of licenses has become one of the most urgent matters at the moment.

"The cooperation between the central and regional government is needed. There is an overlapping licensing mechanism. Several licenses were released by other institutions beyond the institution," he explained.

Not only on licenses, Afif also affirmed the abundant amount of legal problems in land acquisition for the 35,000 MW project. Therefore, his party urged the government to actively resolving the legal matter.

"There are no joint cooperation between the central and regional in procuring lands. There should be a clear legal measures so the project may be accelerated," he stated.
