medcom.id, Jakarta: Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan appreciated the cooperation between his ministry and the Ministry of Trade to maintain the supply of basic needs to all regions through the 'Maritime Outlets' (Gerai Maritim) program. The concrete measures from the program is to provide six ships serving six designated routes.

"The six ships will be regularly serving the destinations after Eid al-Fitr at the latest. We hope the basic needs prices in several destinations of East, Central and West Indonesia would be the same, where the difference will be on the delivery fees," he stated in Jakarta, Friday (6/19/2015).

Jonan thinks the regular shipment is hoped to normalize the price. But the transportation for travelers should remain in service.

"If it's already regular, there is a container ship to carry them (passengers)," he explained.

The Maritime Outlet to Serui, Yapen Islands Regency, Papua, uses Gunung Dempo ship with Jakarta-Jayapura route, shipping as many as 15 containers of basic needs (dry and refrigerated containers), such as frying oil, eggs, chicken meat, flour, rice, sugar and other basic needs. (EPS)
