Gov't Lowers Fuel Prices Rp500/Liter

medcom.id, Jakarta: The government finally announced fuel prices cut that will be effective from April 2016. The prices of premium-type gasoline and diesel fuel are lowered Rp500/liter.
 
"It has been decided premium is lowered from Rp6,950/liter to Rp6,450/liter. Diesel fuel is lowered from Rp5,650/liter to Rp5,150/liter. Meanwhile, kerosene is unchanged," said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/30/2016).
 
The cut is intended to anticipate fasting month and Lebaran holiday. The government expects food prices will not rise significantly in the period.
 
"The new prices will be effective from April 1, 2016," Sudirman added.
 
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung mentioned fuel prices in Indonesia are still lower compared with neighboring countries like Singapore, Vietnam and Cambodia. It is only higher than fuel prices in Malaysia.
 
"Hopefully, public transportation tariffs could also be lowered," stated Pramono.
