PLN to Buy Electricity from Waste-to-Energy Plants

medcom.id, Jakarta: Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has agreed to buy electricity from waste-to-energy plants in seven cities.
 
PLN president director Sofyan Basir signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday (12/5).
 
PLN will buy the electricity at Rp2,496 per kWh. The state enterprise will apply a build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) scheme.

"The seven cities are Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, Semarang, Surakarta, Surabaya and Makassar," PLN corporate communication head I Made Suprateka said in a written statement.
 
"Jakarta will provide 4X10 MW. The other cities will each provide 10 MW," he continued.
 
The government is committed to develop waste-to-energy sector. It is intended to improve the environment.
