Govt to Evaluate Freeport Divestment Offer

medcom.id, Jakarta: PT Freeport Indonesia has offered share divestment worth USD1.7 billion to the government. However, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is still reviewing the offer. The ministry will establish an evaluation team for the task.
 
The ministry's director of mineral business empowerment M. Hidayat mentioned the amount is seen to be exceedingly high. Besides the price value, the government also studies other aspects of the offer including the time period.
 
"It is still being reviewed by several ministries, such as the Ministry of Finance, Coordinating Ministry of Maritime, BPKP, even the Attorney General to highlight whether the value is fair," mentioned Hidayat in Aryaduta Hotel, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (1/20/2016).
 
Hidayat mentioned his party has gathered names to be placed in the team. The assignment letter is expected to be concluded this week.
 
Aside from that, government also invites external valuer. Hidayat said the government has 60 days to make decision.
 
"Whether we will purchase it, we should study it first," he explained.
