Russia Joins Investment in Borneo Train Project

medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated that Russia has pledged its commitment to invest in the areas related to the Borneo Kalimantan Train Project.
 
According to JK, with the development of Borneo Train, it will develop Kalimantan into becoming less isolated. It is of course has a relationship with the infrastructure improvement within that region, which is hoed to become a good news to suppress economy with high expenses.
 
"They are committed to make Kalimantan opened from isolation. As with the presence of train, it will be good for the coal and palm prices," said JK in his office, Jalan Veteran III, Medan Merdeka Utara, Central Jakarta, Monday (10/26/2015).

The project will be conducted by Borneo Railways (PT Kereta Api Borneo) along with the Russian Railways with the project investments of US$2.5 billion or equal to Rp31.25 trillion (currency of Rp12,500).
 
Meanwhile, the Governor of East Kalimantan, Awang Farouk Ishak said the train will be built with two lines. The land for the railways, which is estimated to reach 200 kilometers in length have cut through the property of residents.
 
"The first line from West Kutai to the Industrial Region of Buluminung in Balikpapan, second from Kutai Kartanegara to KEK Batua Trans South Kalimantan," he explained.
