medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated the government is still studying Masela gas block. The investment decision is planned to be made in 2018.
"We need time to give more room to the investors whether it will be offshore or onshore, it is still under consideration," said Jokowi at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Monday (2/29/2016).
Jokowi mentioned the main focus is how the investment could give benefit to eastern Indonesia region especially the local residents. "That is the design that I ask to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Bappenas," he added.
He explained Indonesia should start to have oil or petroleum fund for future energy security. The fund could also be used to develop oil and gas producer region.
Jokowi underlined the government does not want oil and gas revenue being used carelessly. "Until we don't have money to be used for long term," he concluded.
