Indonesian SMEs Still Reluctant to Learn E-Commerce

Gervin Nathaniel Purba • 20 June 2016 13:57
medcom.id, Jakarta: The government urges local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to embrace e-commerce as it could improve their business.

Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara mentioned that a lot of MSMEs still hesitate to learn about e-commerce.

"They have social media such as Facebook, but they are reluctant with e-commerce," he said in  press release, on Sunday (6/19/2016).

The ministry recently launched cooperation with Pos Indonesia and Nurbaya Initiative to attract MSMEs into offline to online (O2O) e-commerce. It also plans to provide free web hosting for MSMEs.

"MSMEs contribute more than 58 percent of Indonesia's GDP. Technology could enable local entrepreneurs to grow further," he concluded.
