medcom.id, Belitung: XL targets 9 million 4G LTE subscribers in 2016. The target is quite ambitious as the number of their 4G LTE subscribers in 2015 were only around 3 million.
President Director of XL, Dian Siswarini explained that her company has prepared strategies to achieve the target. With Capex (Capital Expense) less than Rp7 trillion for 2016, XL will allocate most of the fund to support data services business, including the development of 4G LTE.
"The SMS and voice is declining. Public has switched to data, chatting and calls by apps," Dian stated in a meeting with the media in Belitung Island, Wednesday (2/17/2016).
Besides that, XL will boost promotion of 4G LTE services. One of the obstacle is device compatibility, as a solution XL will offer bundling package with affordable 4G LTE smartphone.
From coverage, XL is targeting that by the end of 2016, 4G LTE services will be available in 85 cities, including the expansion of network sharing with Indosat Ooredo.
