medcom.id, Jakarta: The Dean of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Herry Suhardiyanto mentioned that Indonesia can be the largest tropical fruit producer in ASEAN.
"Indonesia can be the largest tropical fruit producer by 2025," he said at the Ministry of Agriculture, Jakarta, Monday (5/9/2016).
Herry admitted many Indonesians still prefer imported fruits. He advised the government to educate public that local fruits has the same quality with imported fruits.
"We have to educate the public to love local fruits. Thus, our local fruit products can grow," he continued.
He also advised the development of local fruit product should be conducted according to the potential of each region. "For example, durian could be well developed in Aceh and eastern Indonesia," he concluded.
