medcom.id, Jakarta: Bloomberg showed rupiah weakened against United States (US) dollar on Wednesday (2/17/2016) morning.
Rupiah opened at Rp13,455/USd or weaker than yesterday's closing at Rp13,394/USD. The currency then fell to Rp13,482/USD.
Meanwhile, Yahoo Finance showed rupiah opened at Rp13,480/USD. The currency then weakened to Rp13,500/USD.
Samuel Sekuritas analyst Rangga Cipta said investors are waiting announcement of Bank Indonesia (BI)'s benchmark interest rate. Rupiah could strengthen if the rate is cut.
"Expectation that BI will cut its rate is growing in the market," he said.
