1,377 Workers Laid Off in January 2016

medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Labor recorded 1,377 workers were laid off in January 2016. The workers come from big corporations such as Panasonic, Toshiba, Ford and Chevron.
 
The ministry's director of industrial relations conflict prevention and settlement Sahat Sinurat said the lay offs happened in Jakarta, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.
 
"We will coordinate with related ministries such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Investment Coordinating Board," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/9/2016).
 
He mentioned that the government will intensify efforts to prevent massive unemployment that could give influence to economic discrepancies.
 
"The government will continuously improve regulations that hamper private sector. We also need input from all stakeholders," he concluded.
