medcom.id, Jakarta: The government has planned to cooperate with religious leaders to solve development issues.

President Joko Widodo received Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) chairman Ma'ruf Amin this afternoon. He addressed economic inequality during the meeting.

"He is concerned with the gap between the rich and the poor," Ma'ruf said in Jakarta on Thursday.

The government  has prepared the much anticipated land redistribution program. It has gathered around 12.7 million hectares of land.

The land will be used to alleviate poverty. It will be given to cooperatives, religious organizations and other mass organizations.

"The land must become productive," Ma'ruf mentioned.
