medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources plans to trim licenses in the energy sector from 89 to only 10 after President Joko Widodo instructed the ministry to boost investment in the sector.
"We agree to trim the licenses into only 10," mentioned Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said, as quoted in a press release, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/8/2016).
Sudirman explained the plan will cover oil and gas, mineral and coal, electricity and renewable energy sectors.
"In oil and gas sector, it includes license for downstream business, upstream business and supporting business," he continued.
He explained there were 218 licenses in the ministry two years ago. Since last year, the ministry has gradually simplified its bureaucracy since 2015.
