medcom.id, Jakarta: The government is serious in developing electricity sector in the country. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said mentioned Indonesia might have installed capacity of 100,000 megawatt (MW) in 2020.
"We might have installed capacity of 100,000 MW in 2020. Half of it might be run by independent power producers (IPP)," he told reporters after cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (6/6/2016)
Sudirman urged National Electricity Company (PLN) to welcome IPP. He argued that PLN cannot develop national electricity industry alone.
"As emphasized by President (Joko widodo), it is impossible for PLN to reach the target alone, he concluded.
