medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources plans to construct Trans-East Kalimantan gas pipeline next year.
The ministry's director general of oil and gas IGN Wiratmaja Puja said the government will build gas pipeline from Handil to Samarinda, Balikpapan and Kutai Kertanegara. He expects the project can be completed within five years.
"We have had discussion with the local authorities," he said in the ministry's official website on Thursday (8/4/2016).
East Kalimantan is rich with natural resources. However, local residents cannot reap benefits from it due to lack of infrastructures.
"We will also build gas power plants there," he stated.
