medcom.id, Jakarta: Acting Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said a merger between PGN and Pertagas could lower gas prices.
Both PGN and Pertagas are state-owned gas companies. However, their businesses are not synchronized.
"The upstream sector has too many layers. We want to simplify it," Luhut said at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/5).
"We consider to merge PGN and Pertagas," he continued.
Previously, President Joko Widodo ordered his ministers to lower gas prices to USD5/mmbtu. Jokowi said expensive gas prices damage competitiveness.
