medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo has instructed his economic team to implement measures to increase national savings ratio up to 75 percent by 2019.
"We should encourage people to save money," he said on Tuesday (12/6).
"We should introduce students, farmers and fishermen to banking system," he continued
He mentioned that higher national savings would boost infrastructure development. Private banks would be more eager to fund long-term infrastructure projects.
"It is not impossible," he stated.
Indonesia's national savings per gross domestic product currently is around 30 percent.
