medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesia will get benefits when it rejoins as member of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) including the opportunity to be decision maker in global oil organization.

Indonesia's representative for OPEC, Widyawan Wiratmaja, said Indonesia cannot participate in OPEC's decision making after its membership was suspended in 2008.

"Indonesia will get benefit from its presence in important global energy organization. Indonesia will be the decision maker," said Widyawan in his written statement, Jakarta, Friday (12/4/2015).

Widyawan said another benefit from rejoining OPEC is networking in global energy community. "Networking in global energy community will open access to technology transfer, mutually benefitial business opportunities, and access to recent research and development," he said.

Wiryawan added rejoining OPEC will help to ensure Indonesia's energy supply. "Rejoining OPEC to maintain Indonesia's national interest." he concluded.
