medcom.id, Jakarta: The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has announced Indonesia recorded 0.02 percent deflation in August 2016.
Year to date inflation reached 1.74 percent, while year on year inflation reached 2.79 percent.
"It is the lowest deflation in August since 2001," BPS deputy of distribution and services statistics Sasmito Hadi Wibowo said here on Thursday (9/1/2016).
The deflation was mainly influenced by rice and transportation prices. Rice prices decreased by 0.13 percent, while transportation, communication and financial services prices fell by 0.19 percent.
"Food prices and transportation prices declined after Lebaran holiday," he stated.
