Gov't to Speed Up Oil and Gas Development in Natuna

medcom.id, Jakarta: The government is committed to develop East Natuna gas block, even though the global energy market is still weak.

"We are trying to speed up (the development of East Natuna gas block)," mentioned Minister of Energy and Resources Sudirman Said at his office, on Friday (7/15/2016).

President Joko Widodo has instructed his cabinet to improve economy in Natuna Islands. Fishery and energy are potential sectors in the region.

"Regarding incentives, we have not discussed it yet," he continued.

The East Natuna gas block has gas reserves of 222 trillion cubic feet (tcf). However, it contains 71 percent carbon dioxide. The gas reserves that can be taken are only around 46 tcf.
