Dian Ihsan Siregar • 29 August 2016 20:13
medcom.id, Jakarta: The Indonesian government is planning to increase debt to Rp296 trillion this year.

"Deficit in the revised 2016 state budget is 2.35 percent of GDP or Rp296 trillion," Finance Ministry director general of budget financing and risk management Robert Pakpahan said here on Monday (8/29/2016).

"It means we have to increase debt to that level," he continued.

Robert explained Indonesia is still facing global economic slowdown. According to him, large deficit can be a threat to economic growth.

"It is normal. We have to maintain economic growth," he stated.
