medcom.id, Jakarta: PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (Indonesian Stock Exchange/IDX) targets additional 200,000 stock investors this year.
"IDX is optimistic to add 200,000 more this year. 50 percent increase from 434,000 in the end of 2015," said IDX's director of development Nicky Hogan at his office, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/17/2016).
Nicky is confident the target could be reached. He predicted new investors mostly will come from trust funds sector. It could be higher (from trust funds)," he added.
PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (Indonesian Central Securities Depository/ICSD) recorder investors in IDX reached 433,607 in 2015. It is the highest since single investor identification (SID) was applied in 2012.
ICSD Director Margeret M. Tang said all stakeholders will continue to educate public about stock market. "Such program is effective to make public familiar with stock market," she said.
