medcom.id, Jakarta: Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources revealed government plans to lower gas price in Indonesia up to 30 percent. Previously, many experts mentioned that gas price in Indonesia is not competitive compared with other countries.

"We continue to improve our gas management so it will be more conducive for industry. We continue to try to cut gas price 30 percent," said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in his written statement in Jakarta, Monday (30/11/2015).

Sudirman explained, the policy is believed able to boost downstream industry sector. It also will attract more investment. "Not only in downstream industry, but also in upstream oil and gas industry," he said.

Sudirman added that the policy will be supported by other steps taken by government including lowering of government take in upstream industry.

Moreover, government will implement regulated margin in midstream sector so transmission and distribution cost will be more fair. Government will also establish national gas agency to guard the policy.
