medcom.id, Jakarta: State Electricity Company (PLN) President Director Sofyan Basyir mentioned that he is still interested to develop nuclear energy in Indonesia despite the controversy.

Basyir Admitted nuclear issue is very political. "It is unclear. It is political. But I am interested  because it is cheap energy," he said at his office, here, Monday (5/30/2016).

Sofyan explained nuclear energy is not yet included in PLN's business plan. However, he believes PLN could develop nuclear energy in the future.

"It is a necessity. Nuclear has been used in Europe and the United States since 50-60 years ago. Their industries are strong because they have cheap energy," he elaborated.

"A lot of countries offered it," he concluded.
