medcom.id, Jakarta: Bank Indonesia (BI) predicts the country will experience deflation this month.
BI recorded 0.06 percent deflation in the third week of August 2016. The central bank believes the condition will not be different in the end of the month.
"Especially, if there are no pressures in the end of the month," said BI economic and monetary director Juda Agung here on Friday (8/26/2016).
Juda explained inflation rate is always low after Ramadan and Lebaran holiday. This year, Lebaran holiday took place in July.
"This is seasonal. Low inflation rate after Lebaran holiday," he stated.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded 3.21 percent year on year inflation and 1.76 percent year to date inflation in July 2016.
