medcom.id, Jakarta: Chairman of Indonesian Elctronics Producers Association (Gabel) Ali Subroto admitted the presence of Japanese electronics products in Indonesia is waning. Recently, Report emerged that Toshiba and Panasonic are closing their factories.
Ali said many Japanese companies have stopped making electronic products due to low competitiveness and small profit margin. most of them decide to move their investment to other sectors.
"We must see it in detail. Toshiba makes television. Panasonic makess lighting. We see demand for products is still growing. In business, there are many aspects like technology, cost and location," he said by phone, Wednesday (3/2/2016).
"Why Sanyo down? because the margin is small," he added.
Ali mentioned Japanese electronics pproducts have long history in Indonesia. "Toshiba built factory in Indonesia in 1996. They developed television industry in Indonesia," he concluded.
