medcom.id, Jakarta: The Indonesian government signaled it may ease ore export ban. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said mentioned the government may open ore export if it is stipulated in the revised Mineral and Coal Law.
Sudirman admitted that the government is being realistic. Until now, smelter construction is not progressing well.
"It is possible if it is allowed in the new law. We discuss the reality. Many smelters are still unfinished. Business faces difficulties," Sudirman stated during press conference at his office, Jakarta, Friday (2/19/2016).
Low commodity prices make mining companies have financial difficulties. "We facilitate so industry could grow and support national economy," he continued.
Sudirman also mentioned if ore export is opened, the policy will be for all commodities. "It will be for all of them," he concluded.
