medcom.id, Jakarta: The government wants to develop Natuna Islands as international tourist destination. It is one of the ways to develop economy in the islands.
"(Natuna Islands) will be the bigger version of Maldives," said Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/29/2016).
Rizal mentioned that Natuna Islands have beautiful beaches. The government is preparing measures to achieve the goal.
"We are preparing the strategy along with the tourism industry," he continued.
Moreover, the government also wants to build fishery industry in the islands. Natuna waters is recognized with its abundant maritime resources.
"We need to build fish auction center in Natuna. So buyers from all over the world can go there," he concluded.
