medcom.id, Jakarta: Pertamina and National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) on Monday (8/8) sgned memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct preliminary studies on Iran's Ab-Teymour and Mansouri oilfields.
The two fields contain an estimated total reserves of more than five billion barrels. According to the agreement, Pertamina has six months to conduct the preliminary studies.
"After the MoU, we hope Pertamina and NIOC can agree working contracts for the two oilfields," said Pertamina president director Dwi Soetjipto in a written statement.
"It is aligned with our goal to strengthen national energy security," he added.
Separately, Indonesian Ambassador to Iran Octavino Alimudin mentioned the MoU will boost economic relations between the two countries. He hopes the MoU can bring positive outcomes.
"We are ready to facilitate the cooperation," Ambassador Octavino stated.
The Mou was signed by Dwi Soetjipto and NIOC managing director Ali Kardor in Tehran, Iran.
