medcom.id, Jakarta: Journeys with the cruise ship within the country, to visit tourism destinations will soon be realized. It follows the ideas and agreements of several state owned companies (BUMN) to conduct the issue.
Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (persero) Bambang Eka Cahyana said BUMN agrees to hold journeys with the cruise ship which will be realized by local operators to visit several Indonesian tourism destinations in 2016.
The idea was even agreed on and written in the road map of BUMN. "The local cruise ship operations are being conducted," he stated at the Ministry of State Owned Companies, Jakarta, as published on Tuesday (9/1/2015).
PT Pelayaran Nasional (persero) is to become the operator of the cruise ships. Meanwhile, Pelindo and PT Angkutan Sungai, Danau, dan Penyeberangan (persero) will prepare the passenger terminals as the supporting infrastructure.
Bambang admitted to have proposed the route for cruise ships within the area coverage of Pelindo I. The departure from Belawan port, by visiting the destination in Sabang, Nias and Sibolga.
Aside from that, there is the potential of route developments at the ports run by Pelindo. "For example the tourists of cruise ships went aboard from Tanjung Benoa to Labuan Bajo, continuing to Pelindo IV to visit Raja Ampat islands," he stated.
He added the organization of cruises with cruise ships by the state owned companies has the goal of luring foreign tourists to visit Indonesian tourism destinations. The idea is that so far, cruise ships only stop by at the ports, as they are also banned from boarding the people.
The visits with cruise ships are also the response on the demands, as well as the support on Indonesian tourism activities which is lacking in good 'packages'. "They are still sold on their own," added Bambang.
