medcom.id, Jakarta: PT Pertamina stated they spend USD200 million to purchase eight tankers from local shipyard industry. Pertamina's vice president of corporate communication Wianda Pusponegoro they are ordering eight GP-type tankers with 17,500 deadweight tonnage (DWT).
"The total value of the project is at around USD200 million, which is targeted to be completed by this year," mentioned Wianda in a written statement in Jakarta, Sunday (2/28/2016).
Wianda elaborated that the eight projects include the MT Parigi and MT Pattimura by PT Angrek Hiram Shipyard; MT Panderman, MT Papandayan and MT Putri by PT Daya Radar Utama; as well as MT Pasaman, MT Panjang and MT Pangrango by PT Multi Ocean Shipyard.
Wianda stated Pertamina always challenge local shipyard companies to improve their capabilities.
"For example, PT Daya Radar Utama, after successfully constructing the 3,500 DWT MT Musi with the length of 90 meters, the largest they have ever built at the time, we gave them another challenge to build three 17,500 DWT ships with the length of 157 meters, width of 28 meters and the height of 12 meters," she explained.
PT Daya Radar Utama business development director Steven Angga Prana stated it takes at least 24 months and 1,500 workers to fulfill Pertamina's order.
