medcom.id, Jakarta: The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia's economic growth reached 5.18 percent in the second quarter of 2016.
"Ramadan and Lebaran increased consumption," BPS head Suryamin said at BPS headquarters, Jakarta, Friday (8/5/2016).
The higher than expected economic growth was also influenced by late harvest season due to el nino. According to Suryamin, harvest season happened in April and May.
"It usually occurs in the first quarter," he stated.
He added economic growth in the first semester of 2016 reached 5.04 percent. Indonesia only grew 4.9 percent in the same period last year.
