medcom.id, Jakarta: The government is preparing moratoriums for new palm oil and mining concessions following the issuance of moratorium on peatland.

"Prepare moratorium for palm oil. Prepare moratorium for mining," said President Joko Widodo as quoted in press release, Jakarta, Thursday (4/12/2016).

Jokowi argued the existing palm oil concessions are enough to support production. "As long as the seeds are good, production could double," he ensured.

Jokowi underlined he will also stop new mining concessions. "Mining concession should harm conservation forests," he added.

Indonesia is known with its biodiversity. Jokowi stated Indonesia as 'the lungs of the world' should put effort to preserve its nature.
