medcom.id, Jakarta: Bank Indonesia (BI) finally lowered its reference rate or BI rate 0.25 point to 7.25 percent on Thursday (1/14/2016).
BI also lowered lending facility rate to 7.75 percent and deposit facility rate to 5.25 percent.
BI communication chief Tirta Segara said BI saw opportunity to ease its monetary policy. BI observed current macroeconomic conditions are stable and certainty in global market has been established after United States (US) Federal Reserve increased its reference rate.
"This is in line with our previous statement that window to ease monetary policy was getting wider," Tirta said in BI headquarters, Thursday (1/14/016).
Previously, BI has maintained its rate at 7.5 percent since February 2015.
