Indonesia Can Be the Largest Biodiesel Producer: DEN

medcom.id, Jakarta: The National Energy Board (DEN) believes that the non-renewable energy sources such as oil and gas will be outdated in the future. Indonesia has to start developing renewable energy as alternative.
 
According to DEN member Achdiat Atmawinata, as the largest producers of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) in the world, the Indonesian government's policy to mix diesel fuel with 20 percent bio-content is correct.
 
"Indonesia can be the largest producer of biodiesel in the world," he said during a seminar in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11/2016).
 
Achdiat explain Indonesia still can expand its palm oil farmlands. Such expansion could boost biodiesel use in the country "New technology can produce ethanol. This is a great potential," he explained.
 
According to General National Energy Plan, bio-content in diesel fuel will be increased to 31 percent in 2050. "the target is 23 percent in 2025 and 31 percent in 2050. If it is succeed, it can be alternative for oil, he concluded.
