medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Maritime and Fishery (KKP) targeted the national growth of fishery sub sector in 2016 at 12 percent.

Susi Pudjiastuti, the Minister of Maritime and Fishery (MKP) mentioned that the Research and Development Bureau (R&D) of KKP had targeted the growth at 19 percent. However, she lowered that number as 19 percent is too high, according to her.

"19 percent is based on our R&D with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). As for me, 12 percent is enough. If it is not reachable, they will say I'm too ambitious," mentioned Susi at the Mina Bahari 1 Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, December 15.

She added that to fulfill the growth target, her party had prepared a program to support the achievement, which is constructing as many as 3,500 vessels in various sizes.

"Our program is clearly to make 3,500 vessels, as the sizes are varied from 5, 10, 20, 30 Gross Ton (GT) and the vessels for transportation of the sea products itself, so try to elevate from this side," she elaborated.

Susi continued that one of the main factors of the fishery sub sector growth is that the condition of fishery and maritime is better with the policies she had implemented.

"We will continue to eradicate, as the IUU fishing is also implemented well," concluded the minister.
