medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesia will improve trade partnerships with Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries in the near future.
"It is expected to reach USD5 billion by 2019-2020," Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said at the Trade Ministry headquarters on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan agreed the regional organization in May 2014. Armenia and Kyrgizstan joined the economic bloc later that year.
Last year, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of USD245.68 million against EAEU countries. Indonesia exported, textile, clothing and food products to EAEU countries.
"EAEU countries trust our halal products," the Nasdem Party politician said.
EAEU has a population of around 180 million people. It has a GDP per capita of USD24,800.
