medcom.id, Jakarta: Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) assessed that in furniture industry, there are certain 'taste' the players should take notice. These players should not force their taste on consumers.
Kalla said that back then, people were crazy over the furnitures made of teakwood. It is considered to be strong and long-lasting. There were also the times when consumers chose Jepara furniture styles. The unique form has become an interest of its own, although often discomfort should be put aside.
But now, such thoughts have been left out. Consumers, Kalla said, are attracted more to the simple and light chairs or tables.
"So, it is necessary to follow the simplicity of IKEA, as it is also minimalist. So, we have to follow it, as often the mistakes of Indonesians are about wanting to force the taste to other people," said Kalla in JIEXPO, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Friday (3/11/2016).
Similar to other businesses, furniture industry definitely have researchers or marketing experts continuously observing the market and the developing trend. These experts should be utilized by the industry players to keep track of the era.
Aside from that, Kalla also urged furniture players to be sensitive with the use of technology and paying attention on their product's designs.
"What we have to see and hope from these exhibitions are the meeting of producers and consumers capable of shifting the style, process, and many others. We cannot escape from competition," Kalla concluded.
