Jakarta: Indonesian Defense Ministry spokesperson Dahnil Izhar Simanjutank today revealed that Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto was invited by his United States (US) counterpart Mark Esper to visit the US on October 15-19.
"The visit aims to strengthen ties between the two countries," Dahnil said here on Thursday.
"Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is very activie in maintaining defense ties between Indonesia and other countries, including the US," the spokesman added.
In August, the US Secretary of Defense and Indonesian Defense Minister spoke on the phone to discuss US and Indonesian military cooperation in the age of covid-19.
According to the US Department of Defense, Secretary Esper and Minister Prabowo discussed maritime security, defense acquisitions, and military exercises during the phone discussion.
In addition, they also conveyed their desire to meet in-person in the near future.
