Jakarta: Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi held nine bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the High Level Segment of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday, February 24, 2020.
"I met with my counterparts from the Netherlands, Sweden, Palestine, Denmark, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia and Norway," the minister was quoted by the Foreign Affairs Ministry's press release.
"I also met with WHO director general and UN high commissioner for human rights," she was quoted as saying.
Besides discussing bilateral relations between Indonesia and other countries, Retno also talked about a number of regional and global issues, including economic cooperation, Palestinian independence and women empowerment.
During the bilateral meeting with WHO Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus, she discussed developments of the ongoing COVID 19 outbreak. She also reiterated the importance of coordination between governments and WHO in addressing the outbreak.
As the Chair of the Foreign Policy and Global Health (FPGH), she extended an invitation for the WHO leader to attend the upcoming FPGH Ministerial Retreat. She also welcomed the WHO Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan.
