Indonesia to Temporarily Ban Entry of Foreigners

Jakarta: The government has decided to temporarily ban all arrivals and transits by foreign nationals in order to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) outbreak in Indonesia.
According to Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, an exception will be made for foreigners who have limited stay permit, permanent stay permit, diplomatic stay permit and other similar stay permits.
"It has been decided that all arrivals and transits by foreigners to Indonesia will be temporarily banned," the minister stated here on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

"Of course, there will be several exceptions, including holders of limited stay permit, permanent stay permit, diplomatic stay permit, service stay permit and others." she explained.
As of Monday, March 31, 2020, the Task Force for the Acceleration of the Covid-19 Handling has recorded 1,414 confirmed covid-19 cases, 75 recoveries and 122 deaths.
The disease, which initially struck the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of 2019, has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).
