Jakarta: Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison has offered his deepest condolences to the passing of Indonesia's third President Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie.
He said that Habibie led Indonesia at a time of massive change. He praised Habibie's courage and vision after the fall of New Order era.
"Our Thoughts are with his family and loved ones," the Australian leader said on her official twitter account on Thursday morning.
Indonesia's third president passed away at the age of 83 at the Gatot Soebroto Central Army Hospital in Central Jakarta at 06:05 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. He died of old age.
Habibie was born in Pare Pare, South Sulawesi on June 25, 1936. He was the fourth child in a family of eight children.
Habibie is considered as the pioneer of the Indonesian aviation industry. He is also widely known as the country's Father of Technology.
Habibie will be buried at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta on Thursday afternoon. The funeral procession will be led by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
