Kuala Lumpur: Thirteen Indonesian nationals residing in Malaysia have contracted covid-10 as of Monday, March 23, 2020, confirmed the coordinator of Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Agung Cahaya Sumirat.
Twelve patients were confirmed by the Malaysian Health Ministry to have been infected after participating in an Islamic congregation held at the Seri Petaling Mosque, Malaysia, from February 27 to March 1, said Sumirat.
The latest Indonesian patient to be diagnosed with covid-19 is a resident of Kuching, the capital of the Malaysian State of Sarawak, said Sumirat here on Monday, quoting information from the Malaysian Health Ministry.

The patient from Kuching is a lecturer at the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), according to the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in the city.
The KJRI revealed the patient is believed to have developed covid-19 symptoms on March 10 and announced his diagnosis from the Sarawak Public Hospital on March 22.
The authorities at the Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching are coordinating with the Sarawak covid-19 Center for the patient's medication and in carrying out preventive measures for the patient's family members, students, and other people who had direct contact with the patient between March 10 and March 22.
As part of efforts to contain the spread of covid-19, the Malaysian authorities in Sabah had earlier delayed the deportation of several undocumented Indonesian migrant workers through the Nunukan Port in North Kalimantan Province. (Antara)
